Val d'Europe stands as a premier economic hub with international reach.
Located 30 km east of Paris in the Île-de-France region, and within a convenient 3-hour reach from major French and European cities, this territory is witnessing remarkable growth. Currently, it hosts over 53,000 residents, 49,000 jobs, and 8,300 businesses.
Originally composed of 10 quaint Briard villages, each with its own unique character... it's the birthplace of Louis Braille, the inventor of the eponymous language. This area boasts a rich historical heritage, timeless allure, and a preserved village lifestyle that endures to this day.
The inception of this territory traces back to a pivotal agreement signed on March 24, 1987, involving the State, the Île-de-France region, the Seine-et-Marne department, the RATP (Parisian public transport operator), the public development authority (EPA), and the Walt Disney Company. This agreement aimed at fostering urban, economic, and touristic development.
Over the course of 35 years, the territorial landscape has undergone significant transformation, now encompassing 10 municipalities spread across 6,900 hectares. The objectives have been manifold:
This ambitious territorial development rests upon an unprecedented public-private partnership in France. It has resulted in the establishment of the premier European tourist destination, Disneyland® Paris.
This new urban hub has quickly transformed into a significant economic and tourist center in just a few years, with a commitment to continue its development through sustainable urban planning.
The development plan for Val d'Europe is divided into 5 successive phases, slated to continue until 2037. Currently, we're halfway through our progress :
